During the first two weeks, Emily and Tristan Ringering were with me and we had the opportunity to check out a few different organizations that work with children here in the city and we were able to meet the people that work day in and day out to care from them. We had the opportunity to hold and pray for some sweet little babies as well. The Ringerings and I did some prayer walks and offered to pray for a handful of people and we saw Jesus show up each time. Everyone was very soft hearted and teared up as we prayed with them and we saw Jesus engaging their hearts. There is an evident softness among the hearts of some of the Romanian people. Also, Tristan and Emily were a great help in helping me learn to get around this spider web of a city and with helping me set up the practical things in my apartment.
In addition, we connected with an amazing couple who are church planting on the outskirts of Bucharest on the northside of the city and we were able to see and meet the people in their newer community. While hanging out with them we were all challenged by the way that they love and follow the person of Jesus. Also, they live five minutes from my house in the heart of the city. More friends to become my family here on this side of the world.
I have been loved and received very well at the Bucharest International Church. I have been connecting with people there and serving in the community where needed. This is another key community that will be ministry friends of ours in the present and in the future. God has confirmed this very clearly to me.
A couple of weeks ago, I started my Romanian classes. The limited amount of the language I know has been my greatest challenge because I am restrained with what I can communicate to people. Fortunately, a lot of Romanians are gracious to me and they know English and together we communicate. Whew! I have also spent the last couple of weeks continuing to make connections and getting to know the people and culture. I have several friends that I believe have been strategically placed in my life and I appreciate the perspective they bring to me from an everday Romanian's worldview. One of them in particular is a person of peace and I see God softening his heart to draw him to Himself.
I am at home here and yet I am grateful for all of the homes that I have been a part of up to this point in my life. Christmas is coming soon and I have already had an invite to be with some of my friends. I am grateful for them. Each day Jesus is continuing to reveal bit by bit more of what he is doing as I live here.
Thank you for supporting me with prayer, relationship, and finances to help me to be here. I have raised $12,000 that is in the bank and/or by pledges and I still have $4,000 to still raise. I am truly grateful for my supporting family and friends in the states and my receiving friends here in Bucharest. Collectively, we shall see God unfold more and more of what he is doing here in Bucharest.
